The NoteGPT AI Detector Claims Near 100%. The Only Outside Ranking We Found Placed It 25th of 30

By Fırat Mıhcı, who founded MeteGPT and publishes research on how second-language writers are read by machines (ResearchGate). Published October 27, 2026. Each NoteGPT page quoted here was read and archived on October 25, 2026.

TL;DR: NoteGPT’s AI detector advertises near 100% accuracy, but its page cites no test behind that figure, and its own FAQ admits no tool is perfect. The only published outside ranking found lists it 25th of 30 detectors. MeteGPT’s free detector scores a paragraph without signup and, signed in, shows why the score leaned AI.

NoteGPT is an AI study-tool suite at notegpt.io. Alongside lecture transcription summaries, mind maps, translation and an AI chat, it offers a text detector that, in the vendor’s words, returns “a percentage of AI presence” [EV-04]. This review covers that text detector. NoteGPT’s image detector is a separate tool and sits outside this page; the humanizer gets one section, because people who look up the detector so often ask about both.

I read NoteGPT’s detector, pricing and humanizer pages side by side on October 25. The detector page’s headline promises near 100% accuracy, and a few scrolls down, the FAQ on that same page says no tool is perfect and that newer models can slip past it [EV-01, EV-02]. Bracketed tags like these are citations: each one matches a dated, archived source in the evidence table at the end of the page.

Is NoteGPT’s AI Detector Accurate?

No one outside NoteGPT has shown that NoteGPT’s AI detector is accurate. The vendor claims near 100% accuracy without citing a test, its own FAQ concedes it can miss newer models, and the only published outside ranking, a 12-text test run by a rival detector company, placed it 25th of 30 [EV-01, EV-02, EV-13].

Here is each accuracy claim beside what the record holds, as captured on October 25, 2026.

QuestionWhat NoteGPT saysWhat the record showsSource
Headline accuracy“near 100% accuracy” on ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude “and more”No test, sample or source is cited next to the figureEV-01
Limits of the claimFAQ: “no tool is 100% perfect”; may miss “newer or less-detectable AI models”The same page qualifies its own headlineEV-02
Models coveredThree named model families, then “and more”No full list of tested models appears on the pageEV-01
What a check returns“a percentage of AI presence”One number per check; read it as a signal, not a rulingEV-04
NoteGPT’s own rankingBlog post of Nov 12, 2025 puts NoteGPT first at “8.7/10”Written by NoteGPT’s Director of Operations; sample given as “over 120 writing samples” in one place and “hundreds of tests” in anotherEV-12
Outside testNot addressed by NoteGPTPangram, Jan 7, 2026: listed 25th of 30; caught 6 of 9 AI texts and cleared 1 of 3 human texts on the free versionEV-13

What the 25th-of-30 placing actually measured

Pangram, which sells its own detector, ran 12 texts through 30 free detectors: nine AI texts of about 1,000 words, three each from ChatGPT-4o, Gemini 2.0 and Claude 3.7 Sonnet, plus three human texts. An AI text counted as caught at 75% AI or higher, and a human text counted as cleared at 25% AI or lower. NoteGPT’s detector caught 6 of the 9 AI texts and cleared 1 of the 3 human ones. Two of the human texts were famous historical documents, Pangram lists itself first, and the post calls its results “not definitive” [EV-13]. So “25th of 30” is a list position from one small run, not an accuracy rate.

Why NoteGPT and another checker can disagree

Text rewritten by NoteGPT’s own humanizer shows how far apart detectors can land. In Undetectable AI’s test of October 10, 2025, one text per block, NoteGPT’s detector rated NoteGPT-humanized text 0% AI, while GPTZero read that same text as 100% AI, a single reading reported by a competing vendor [EV-15]. In Originality.ai’s test of December 11, 2025, one sample, NoteGPT-rewritten text scored 100% likely AI on Originality.ai’s detector [EV-16]. Each detector applies its own model and its own idea of where AI begins, so no free checker, NoteGPT’s included, predicts what a school’s licensed tool will report, and this review’s search found no source comparing NoteGPT with any school-licensed checker. If you cross-check, note that ZeroGPT and GPTZero are different tools.

Does NoteGPT’s AI Detector Flag Human and Non-Native English Writing?

No published source measures how often NoteGPT’s AI detector flags human or non-native English writing, so no false-positive rate exists for it. In Pangram’s 12-text test, NoteGPT cleared 1 of 3 human texts; in Undetectable AI’s one-text-per-block check, it rated the one human text 100% human [EV-13, EV-15]. NoteGPT’s detector FAQ talks about AI text it might miss rather than human writing it might wrongly flag [EV-02].

NoteGPT’s own blog is blunter about the category than its detector page is. The post that ranks NoteGPT first warns, about AI detectors in general, that “Human-written essays were sometimes marked as 90% AI” [EV-12]. That risk weighs most on formal academic prose and on non-native English writers, whose careful, regular sentences are the kind a statistical detector can read as machine-made.

NoteGPT’s blog says its detector explains patterns, sentence structure and burstiness, while the detector page itself describes only the percentage [EV-12, EV-04]. If your human-written essay came back flagged, re-run the flagged paragraph on its own, compare it against a second detector that lists its reasons, and keep your drafts and version history. MeteGPT’s detector gives signed-in users a signal-by-signal report, with the eight signals that pushed the score hardest, a sentence-length chart and the flagged sentences highlighted, so paste the paragraph in question and see the signals behind a flagged sentence.

Why a single percentage cannot explain a flag

One number folds many measurements together, so it cannot show which sentence moved it or whether the cause was your style or an actual AI draft. Before acting on any score, read this guide to reading a score before you submit.

Is NoteGPT’s AI Detector Really Free With No Sign-Up?

On the detector page’s own terms, yes. NoteGPT states “No login required!” and promises no hidden fees, subscriptions or login requirements, and the page names no daily cap [EV-03]. The input box counts up to 20,000, but the page never says whether that means characters or words [EV-04].

Two details make the free label less simple. NoteGPT’s pricing page lists the AI Detector as a plan feature, Unlimited only on the two top tiers, and does not say what the free plan includes for it [EV-06]. And across the wider suite, the newest of 35 Trustpilot reviews, posted October 14, 2026, is titled “NOT Free and DOES need Sign up” [EV-14]. That review concerns NoteGPT’s image generator, not the text detector, so it speaks to suite-wide friction rather than to this tool; the suite’s TrustScore stood at 1.8 across those 35 reviews on the capture date.

Where MeteGPT’s free detector ends, and what a paid plan adds

NoteGPT’s box takes up to 20,000 of an unstated unit; MeteGPT’s free scan takes 125 words with no account, four times a day, and a free account adds the full signal report on each scan. That scan is sized for the one paragraph you are unsure about, while whole essays and chapters run on a paid plan. The humanizer starts free as well, with four rewrites of up to 250 words on a free account, and every rewrite, free or paid, arrives with its detector score on the same screen.

How Much Does NoteGPT’s AI Detector Cost on a Paid Plan?

NoteGPT’s detector is unlimited only on the Unlimited plan, $19.92 a month billed annually, and the Max plan, $69 a month billed annually. The cheaper Pro plan, $9 a month billed annually, places the detector inside a shared pool of 1,000 basic quotas a month, and the pricing page does not say how many quotas one check uses [EV-05, EV-06].

NoteGPT plan (captured Oct 25, 2026)Billed annuallyBilled monthlyAI Detector on this planSource
Pro$9/mo ($108/yr)$9.99/moShares “1,000 Basic Quotas / month” with transcription summaries, mind maps, translation and AI chat; no detector-specific countEV-05, EV-06
Unlimited$19.92/mo ($239/yr)$29/mo“Unlimited AI Detector, AI Humanizer”EV-05, EV-06
Max$69/mo ($829/yr)$99/moUnlimitedEV-05, EV-06

The Pro pool is the detail to read twice. A Pro subscriber who also summarises lectures or chats with the AI draws from the same 1,000 as the detector, and the pricing page gives no way to turn that pool into a number of checks [EV-06]. The prices carry a “Save 30% Limited Time” label, so they may have moved since the capture [EV-05]. Refunds are available only within 24 hours of the first purchase, minus any Premium Credits used; renewals, upgrades, repeat and discounted purchases are excluded, and requests need a reason sent by email [EV-07].

Does NoteGPT’s Humanizer Check Its Own Detector?

NoteGPT’s humanizer page does not say that rewrites are checked by NoteGPT’s own detector, and it publishes no pass rates. It names four third-party detectors that its output is meant to “perform better” with, which leaves the checking to the reader [EV-08].

The humanizer page repeats the detector page’s pattern. Its headline promises “100% Human Text,” while its FAQ concedes no tool is perfect [EV-09]. Its text allows up to 10,000 characters, but its input counter reads 20,000, with no explanation [EV-10]. A second rewriting page on notegpt.io pairs a “100% Human” headline with a FAQ admitting no tool can guarantee the result [EV-11].

Two competing detector vendors have each run a single small test that touches the humanizer:

  • Undetectable AI, October 10, 2025. One text per block. NoteGPT’s detector rated a human text 100% human and a ChatGPT 3.5 text 100% AI, then rated NoteGPT-humanized text 0% AI; the post’s summary words that last result differently from its table [EV-15].
  • Originality.ai, December 11, 2025. One ChatGPT sample rewritten by NoteGPT scored 100% likely AI on Originality.ai’s own detector, 93% human on Writer and 32% AI on ZeroGPT. NoteGPT’s detector was not tested [EV-16].

MeteGPT works in the opposite order: every rewrite is scored by MeteGPT’s detector before it comes back to you, on a free account as on a paid plan, and the rewrite and its score share one screen.

Are There Independent Tests or Reddit Threads on NoteGPT’s AI Detector?

Our search on October 25, 2026 found no Reddit, Quora or YouTube report about NoteGPT’s AI detector and no independent test of it. The only outside tests come from two companies that sell competing detectors, one using 12 texts and one using a single text per block [EV-13, EV-15].

The search ran 13 logged web queries (Reddit, Quora, YouTube, false positives, comparisons, free limits, benchmarks), 9 Hacker News stories that mention NoteGPT, none about the detector, and 6 vendor and test pages read in full. Reddit’s own search refused automated requests that day, so Reddit was checked through search engines only: read the result as “none found by this search,” not as proof that no thread exists. Between NoteGPT’s self-ranking [EV-12] and two small rival tests, no university study, newsroom test or community thread turned up for this detector.

When Is a NoteGPT AI Detector Score Good Enough to Act On?

A NoteGPT AI detector score is good enough for a low-stakes first look at text you already suspect, and not enough on its own when the result will decide what you submit. Its accuracy rests on the vendor’s word: no benchmark on record, a FAQ that qualifies the headline, and two small rival tests, one of which placed it 25th of 30.

The decision rule follows from three gaps in the record. With no published benchmark, no measured false-positive rate and a Pro quota that never turns into a check count, a NoteGPT score works as a starting signal. When the score will shape what you hand in, or a human-written draft came back high, use a detector that shows the reasons behind its number; to weigh the options, see how the major detectors compare.

Paste a paragraph into MeteGPT and read the reasons: the scan is free without an account, and a free account adds the report that ranks the signals behind the score and highlights the sentences that drove it, so you can check each flag against your own writing.

Limitations

  • No live scan of NoteGPT’s detector was run, so the page gives no accuracy figure for it, and whether NoteGPT’s script-loaded results screen shows sentence-level explanations is unconfirmed.
  • The outside tests come from competing detector vendors, with 12 texts, one text per block and one sample.
  • Trustpilot’s 35 reviews cover the whole suite; the newest concerns the image generator.
  • Prices carry a promotional label and date from October 25, 2026; the Pro quota cannot be turned into a check count.
  • Reddit refused direct automated access, so “no thread found” covers search-engine routes only.
  • The second independent coding pass on the 16 entries is still pending.

Disclosure. MeteGPT sells an AI detector and a humanizer, so we have a stake in this market. That is the reason every NoteGPT fact above carries a date, an archive and a source you can open yourself.

Start with one paragraph on the free detector. When the draft in front of you is a whole essay, MeteGPT’s plans for full-length checks take it in one pass.
